Default RE: Taking a Tom off the roost-Ethical?

There was a similar post about shooting doves out off tree limbs.
I' m sure that many folks on these boards have family that had hunt to put food on ther table. It' s about the end result. IMHO, shooting a turkey out of the roost isn' t sporting, but it will put food on the table. People gotta do what they gotta do.
When it comes to comparing abilities, then it becomes apples and oranges.
Shooting your limit doves off a limb isn' t the same thing as shooting them on the wing.
I know a guy who was a " great" turkey hunter because he' d killed 8 turkeys. Then one day it came out that he liked to pick out the biggest ones while they were under the bird feeder at his friend' s house. Not the same as working a bird.
It may be ethical as a means to put food on the table, but call it what it is. What' s not ethical, is for a person to put themselves in the same category as a someone who' ll work a bird and wait for the shot. It seems like cheating to me if a person lalks up and blows away a roosted tom, when I think of what went through to harvest a bird.
