ORIGINAL: YooperMike

I leave mine on the ground, attached to a retractable hoist. Use the hoist for getting the bow, but also for height checking. Have a couple marks on the rope, and when it stops, I'm at 30'.
Yooper has an answer close to what I was looking for. My rope is about 33'. I use at a gauge for how high I am. In bare trees I need to be around 30'. I use a loggy (just bought the old style off the internet for my son) for hunting. It's a one piece and for my friends and I, it was the best ever made.

The real question is, what do you do with your bow when you forgot you pull rope? I've ussually used my safety strap since I only secure myself after I get to my hunting height and ready to lock on to the tree. However, a friend of mine pointed out that he grips the bow string in his hand, since he doesn't use the safety harness. I tried that but found the strap easier.
