Both excellant ideas except I havent been able to find a octagon barrel scope mount in many years.
try thompson center direct or gun parts. there are plenty of scope mount options for traditional barrels. look at the thompson center duo ring system also. if your hunting from a stand a heavier gun will keep the cross hairs in a scope from wondering especially when not using a fixed rest.
