120-130lb mule deer doe with a 225 grain powerbelt, 80 grains triple 7, 80 yard shot.
Oh, And through the shoulder.
The 80g of 777 did it for you FG. I was talking about people shooting 150g charges, when you push the PB that hard they fly apart on ribs and any bone you hit. Thanks for reading my pages, and your editorial review!!! There a a lotta folks that swear by PBs, but I believe it is just a matter of time before they start having bad experiences. I shot them for 2 years and got several deer with no problems, then I had a week like Chris had and I had to find an answer. So folks blame me--taking poor shots, but most of the shot where I lost deer were cake shots of 50 yards and when the smoke cleared no deer and no blood trail. You kneep using them. I will continue to use the Noslers, Gold Dots, Parker Ballistic Extremes and Barnes---I will be testing Expanders, XPB Pistol bullets and Triple Shock X bullets for the 45-70 in my Savage after hunting season.
