Well first bigcountry, its not a myth and if you ever get up my way I' d be glad to take you out next to the house on my bench and shoot one for you.I got five bolt action savages and they all shoot better than 1 1/2" . Accuracy is not everything you are right, its just a country mile ahead of what comes second in a hunting gun for me

fit and finish are wonderful, but I buy my guns to hunt with and you never hear a hunter say " well I did miss that nice buck, but don' t the inletting on my stock look good and don' t that bolt feel like silk when you work it!" And my point was and still is comparing custom guns to a savage costing 1/4 as much on a post about whats your feeling on savages seems way off the point. The " dorky" barrel nut is the reason 1/2" inch groups might be myth to you but are reality to me and 1 1/2" groups might be realistic to you but means I' ve accidently picked up a gun that wasn' t one of my savages before walking to the range. ]Cheers and good hunting!
