The 30-06 sould be fine just find the smallest grain bullet you can or look at remminton and try the 30-06 accelarator bullets its a .22 in a sabot that shoots from your 30 cal. the other thing is if you get a well constructed bonded bullet a coy won't be big enough to make the bullet expand much. Be careful with the accel rounds from Remington-- tried them in my -06 and never got groups better than 2" something about the sabots and rifling didn't work for me.
