I'm looking for a dog that would be good at tracking downed deer. It would also have to be good around other animals and children.

I have 2 dogs, a cat and two children (5 and 6).

I would need something fairly low maintenance, I am not able to be very active, I have a bad heart and both knees are messed pretty bad.

I've been thinking a beagle. What other good choices would there be?
