Default RE: Thick, thick, thick

The story finally ends. I attempted to use the rattling calling sequence that I stated in an earlier post and it did have some success. The big buck did circle me and end up coming into my hunting buddy. How close? Well let's say about 10 yards. He lifted his gun and all he saw in the scope was nose. He apologized to me latter for when the monster came in he pulled an Elvis. I mean he stated that both his legs just started to shake and before he was able to focus again the buck was gone. From this experience I knew exactly where to place my stand for the last weekend. I was in the bush 3 hours before shooting time on the last weekend screwing in my tree pegs for my stand when he came through. I had 3 pegs in the tree and my gun was a few feet from me when he crashed through the bush swamp not more than 15 yards from me. He was a long bodied 4x4 with short 6-7 inch tines, with a spread of at least 24 ins. and the mass of the main beam was thicker than my fore arm. I didn't have a shot and nore did any one else so I know that hewill be in that thick bush waiting for me nest year. I learnt alot from chasing this buck and I hope to apply it for next season. I guess that's one of the coolest things about dear season is that you will now have an entire year to plan an ambush for the following season. He'll be there again next year and so will I, filled with the knowledge that he taught me, willing and able to adjust my tactics for next season in order to harvest that great Canadian brute. I love hunting whitetails!!!!
