LOL Big Tim and his physics. You keep spitting out fancy words for yourself such as terminal velocity, which is the, well nevermind no hope in explaining, but you havent factored in initial velocity (muzzle velocity). A good .22 lr will put out about 1200 to 1300 fps MV. A .223 is 3000 fps +. thats anywhere from 2.5 to 3 times greater initial velocity. it also depends on which angle the bullet is shot (45 degrees being the farthest shooting bullet compared to all other angles). so YES, a .223 can and will shoot MUCH MUCH MUCH further than a .22 lr.
that being said, both can be deadly if shot in the wrond direction. still another reason for a shotgun, which like howler said, cant kill someone when shot into the air. worst case scenario, it puts out an eye. ive been hit dozens of times by pellets from across the dove field, and all it does is sting and hardly ever even breaks the skin. plus, im willing to bet that pellets cant make it over a few hundred yards with the very light mass of the pellets.
BTW, there is a perfectly functioning spellcheck underreply options. Put it to good use buddy
