I'm actually glad the leaves started falling here because you can't hear them in the pine needles. I was about 9ft up in a new climber I bought, long story about that, and had three does walk in over my left shoulder feeding. I didn't know they were there until one was about 10ft from me and started digging through stuff on the ground. It's amazing how something that big can walk right by you without making the slightest noise.
