Default RE: Ohio 2007 deer season

The bullet I used is a .45 cal 300 grain Uni-Cor SP. The 270 grain is a .44 cal Gold Dot SP but is a Uni-Cor bullet. There is a 300 grain .44 cal Uni-Cor SP and a couple .45 Gold Dot Hollow Points too which are Uni-Cor bullets too. Uni-Cor being that the jacket is bonded to the core. Looking at the Speer web site it lists my bullet, the 4485, as a high velocity 45 colt bullet. The Speer reloading manual says it's safe to shoot in the 1500 fps range in the .454 Casull. I should be in the 1800 fps range with the 120 grains of T7. The MMP web site lists the 4485 bullet as a large game bullet, elk and such, but from my results at that velocity it expanded very well including complete penetration.

Both shots were off a rock point/cliff shooting at about a 45 degree downward angle. 60-70 yards I guess about 20-25 feet above the ground floor.

Shot on the buck just grazed his heart. He went maybe 50 yards but he was heading downhill and crashed into small tree that ended his downhill exodus.

The doe was shot through the heart and dropped on the spot.
