Good choice in scopes. The insert kit, I believe, is to raise your 44mm scope far enough off your rifle barrel so it doesn't touch. I have used the ZEE rings in a low mount application and they worked great. Weaver, marks their rings to which ones should be used for 40mm, 50 mm. scope etc. If you are going to use flipoff caps like Butler Creek, make sure you account for the thickness of covers. As far as the bases go, that's pretty much a personal preference thing. I like Weaver bases with Weaver style rings but maybe other folks don't care for that combo. It's all in what you like.
