I have one of those Streamlight WOWs that came out years ago. Lately, I have problems sometimes with the light dimming out with full batteries sometimes, though I JUST changed the bulb recently.

I see they have the LED bulbs that last MUCH longer and are bright.

Question: For finding bright eyes and going to treestands, as well as good light for trackingblood trails, using up close to work on stuff in my backpack in darkness, etc. what headlamp would you recommend? I cannot afford to get one that won't find bright eyes at a bit of a distance like my WOW was able to do.

One thing I have noticed is that the headlamps I see nowadays have the round strap like my WOW did, but ALSO a strap that goes up OVER the head. I wonder if this would keep me from being able to simply put the light around my neck instead of my head??

Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated.
