My dad told me to do it in 308 last night. Would i be better off trading the Savage rifle for a beat up Remington 700 short action for a project rifle? The Savage shoots good it was my little bros. I could shoot about 1.5-2in groups at 100 yards using cheap winchester ammo with it and it is a little on the heavy side so the recoil is very managable. It has less recoil then my 270.
