Bang - flop!
Had a chance to try out the Traditions PursuitPro .50 in the rain today. It rained about all day. I hunted a couple hours this morning then had to go to work for a few hours. Finished up in time to take my 7 year old and hunt for an hour this evening. It was raining when we went to the blind, and picked up even more as the evening went on. I looked at my watch and with only about 20 minutes of legal hunting time left told my son we might as well pack it in for the day. Got out of the blind and took a few steps when I looked out across the field we had been watching and one walked out at about 60 yards. Asked my son if I should shoot - it means we will get home late - and he said YES!
Quartering toward me, I was able to take a rest on an old fence, put the crosshairs on the shoulder (trying to keep the bullet path out of the intestines) and squeezed the trigger. When the smoke cleared it was laying right there! Entry wound was big and the lungs were pulverized! I couldn't find an exit, but I was rushing to get out of the rain.


Turned out to be a button buck, but it will be good eating. Tagged & in the processor's cooler as I write this.
