Even though I don't really like the 17HMR as a caliber, a free rifle is a free rifle so we'll overlook that. As far as accuracy, they'll give you great accuracy out past 150 yards. Some people will tell you to use them out past 200. Thats up to you. As far as game you can shoot. I would say pretty much anything up to coyotes as long as you take head shots. normally I'd never shoot a coyote with anything less than a 22 mag but again thats up to you. I would look at Leupold or Nikon. In fact I just bought a Leupold 3-9 power scope for my 22 mag for $80. With the right scope and right ammo you should be able to hit dime size groups at 100 yards.
