Default RE: scope for 7mm?

OK - 7mm Rem Mag. A caliber that will reach out there with acceptable recoil for most people.

You can get the following scopes for about $200.00 (I've bought all three of these on ebay either new or slightly used on ebay for about $150.00). I think that this is the "sweet spot" in riflescopes where you can get a good quality scope for a reasonable price.

All are compeletely waterproof/fogproof/nitrogen purged, fully multicoated, lifetime warrenty, bright, clear, reliableand a great value

Bushnell Elite 3200 3X9X40. I have this in 4X12 with ballistic reticle and adjustable objective. I really like it, and the industry-first rainguard coatings that allow you to see the entire sight picture despite fog or water on the lens surfaces is amazing. It really works. I hunted all day with it Wednesday in the rain and never had a problem seeing a target.

Nikon Buckmaster 3X9X40. I have this on an Omega muzzleloader and it may just be the brightest scope I own.

Burris Fullfield II 3X9X90. Another great value, American company, the reticle assemblies are reported to be extremely relaible. I have one mounted on a .270. with the ballistic plex reticle and love it.

For slightly more (around 250-300 bucks) you can get the following scopes that bring another level of performance:

Nikon Monarch 2.5X10X40 - Newly redesigned, the new Monarch improves on what was already a tremendous scope. I would love to have one.

Bushnell Elite 4200 3X9X40- many experts think that this is the best scope you can buy under $400.00 and comparable to the Zeiss Conquest

Good luck

Monarch
