Default RE: Wood Arrows?

You'll find some woods that are tougher than POC, but I've yet to find one that is tougher and stays as straight.

I've tried fir, spruce, maple, ash, pine/chundoo, and some laminated shafting--always went back to POC.

I haven't tried any laminated shafts lately, but here's the problems I saw with them.

If they aren't straight when they are glued up, good luck at getting them to stay straight--you have different grains pulling in different directions.

Second, it used to be that the spine on the laminated shafts changed depending on which way your had it turned--again, different pieces of wood. Dunno if that has been fixed or not.

You might talk to Tom at Raven Arrows, or Paul at Elite Arrows, and see if they can put you together some heavier POC's. I know that some are considerably heavier than others--RRA used to do that for folks.
