Well I know from my own point of view.

I hunt new land on a continual basis. I am armed with only an aerial and a topo. I've had some farmers tell me where to go in the past but have never listened. Most farmers I have found don't really know what a big buck (that I am looking for) is. I do all of my own scouting too.

I'd rather sit on the ground then in anothers treestand. But that's me. As my wife would say.. that's the stubborn side of me.
