I just got a .17 hmr as a wedding gift from my guys!

How far out can I expect accuracy with at 17? what kind of animlas are they good for?

Need to put a scope on it, want to spend under 150.00

BSA has a scope made for the 17 that the sales guy said you set in on at 100 yrds then there is a knob you can click that is marked every 25 yrds and that will change your elevation. ex- click knob to 200 yrds and it will be on at 200. Do these really work?

The second scope i looked at is a 3x9.5 centerpoint scope. Lighted reticle red or green. I like this but know nothing about the brand other than whats on their website. I google searched them to find the website.

Am I missing anyother options I really want to get out and start eliminating some crows!
