I'm not a big Remington fan .... but that is your decision to make. Sorta like Ford - Chevy - Dodge.
Anyway, if you're looking for a DEER rifle, get one of the medium cartridges - 25-06 - 7mm-08 - 308 - 270. They are proven killers on deer for decades.
If you wantONE gun to kill everything from mice to moose then get the 7mm magnum. Personally I think it's far more gun than you need for deer, and that's what you'll probably hunt 90% of the time anyway.

Get the deer rifle, practice with it, shoot deer with it, and when you get the chance to go on that elk / moose hunt. Buy an elk / moose rifle.
