I am looking into buying a rifle. An friend of mine is a fan of the Remington 700, 7 mm. He has been hunting for about 20 years. My question is. What is the difference when talking about cartridges and chambers when it applies to 7mm magnum, .243 Winchester, 30-06, .270 Winchester, etc.....This won't be my last gun I will purchase. I just started hunting this year and I am hooked. I plan on broading my horizons in the years to come (elk and other big game). Right not I am in TN hunting white tail. Being in the military for 17 years I have experience with rifles .308 (bolt and semi-automatic) and 300 WINMAG. I just have got down into the weeds on ballistics but more on tactics. Any input?
Remington model 700 in sps,sps stainless, cdl, cdl stainless or 700xcr. As far as cartiridges and calibers it is up to you. Depends what type of terrain and game you will be hunting. I have a Remington 700BDL in 243win. using factory100gr. Remington Core-Loktsthat I have shot alot of mule deer in the Pacific Northwest. My new addition is a Remington 700xcr in 270wsm. Getting a chronographed 3200fps. with factory 150gr.Winchester Power Point ammo and getting 1/2" groups at 100yds.
