RE: deer droppings
If it's still warm, it's pretty fresh. The longer it sits there the more it dries out. The color can be a little misleading....it's a better clue as to what they've eaten. Green and slimy sounds like grazing to me....they'll also be less solid. Droppings from a deer eating a lot of browse, will still be moist, but better formed, and usually a darker brown color.
