RE: Iron Sights or Scope
LAbushman...
this is how i look at it.. i set my guns up fro my situations i will be using them in. i hut in maine where shots are under 100yds and aot of my friends who hunt and live in maine use a lever action. most have scopes but alot of iron sights as well.
i perfer a peep sight on all my guns that i will be stalking or hunting in thick areas. i also find i can aquire a target quicker with iron sights/peep sights quickr than a scope.
but if you are gonna be in areas that you might get shots up to 150yds you might want to think about a small 3X or 4X.
but i would say use sights and not the combo cause of the high cheek wield from using both iron and scope mounts. had one on my 30-30win and even with the under over mounts i had to lift my cheek off the stock to look through the scope. unless you might want to look at luepold quick release mounts or maybe the weaver pivot mounts that the scope just flips to the side for use of sights.
