Default Finaly scored on a basket 8.

One heck of a different season, that is for sure. Unfortunately, it was a bad news, good news day. I hit this buck the last weekend over a scrape, quartering a little hard. The shot was good, went in @ 15 yards, through the liver and a lung. The arrow jammed in, and didn't come out. Waited an hour, got down, grabbed by hunting partner, and went to look for it.

Not a drop of blood, no hair. I knew the hit was good, relatively close and it was clearly fatal. We looked everywhere, grid searching, and nothing came up. Looked for hours. I was pretty bummed because it had been a difficult season to date.

Anyway, this Sunday, while walking out of the woods, my partner looked up the corn field (which had been cut since early Oct), and he saw something laying in the field. Wehad no binos so we decided to do a little sneak to get a closer view. Finally we saw it was down, and there it was. Not 200 yards, and still not blood. The arrow was still in him, and he even fell on it, and it didn't break.

So, unfortunately the meat wasn't good, but at least I can rest knowing that it was fatal and he didn't go far before expiring. I don't know how we missed him. We had to have walked past him 6-8 times this week.

He had a broken tine. This is the second buck I have taken in 3 years for archery that I have gotten on camera. That is a really neat experience. Not a monster, but I'm happy with what I've come across this season.
