Lebeau
Hey bud ,you don't know me but that's what this contest is albout, suport and freindships. Well Shed knows me and has hunted with me.My word is my word and that's from God. Last Saturday night I shot a 190 plus buck I have been hunting for 4 years now, that arrow went into the fletching.I haven't hunted this standall season cause of the wind and it was right for themy 1st chance. He came out right at dark at 17yards where he always come from.Well mostly. I draw, wait till he clears the willows, he stops and smells the scrap I just made before I got on stand and let go. He ran out 30 yards turns broadside and walks back to the fence.
Hops the fence, all the time lookingin my direction and starts walking towards me. Dang I grab another arrow then he took off on his death run with all the same crashing ,then dead silence. Yeah I say to myself and get down and go get my partner 70 yards away. Get changed and come back topick up the trail, no arrow as it's in him but find shaved hair ,a 2 inch tuft then walk to the fence where he jumped and find lots of blood ,dark red. We follow a great blood trail for 70 yards ,then it disapears. We decide to come back the next morning. Yote's will eat a buck in 5 hours up here.I obviously didn't sleep Saturday nightand Sunday we were 3 strong, with the best tracker Alberta has. We got to where we left of the night before again.
Well for the next 2 days we scoured the area on our hands and knees for 60 yards from the last drop ,in every direction, nothing. So I do know how you feel, specially since I had this bucks last 3 years sheds and spent numourus hours glassing him. I wanted to quit and forget the season, but my team picked me up and I was back out 3 nights later and am happy I did. So I know in my heart, you will be better on stand then behind a desk wondering if you should be afield. Hope you stick with it Lebeau and maybe ,just maybe a wall hanger will present you with the broadside shot you wish for. Faith,is a big word and God has granted us that, don't give up. Oh ,bye the way I had the farmer keep an eye out for birds scavenging and we walked every inch of the 40 ACRES. I also went their last night to hunt again.Surprised after all the trashing of the bush their were still deer there. Good luck with the rest of the season and don't forget that safety belt. God Bless.
Rocky
PS I know this doesn't take away the pain, but hopefully it'll be an insperation for you to get back at er
