Alright guys, im finally get back around to the computer so i can post the story and these pictures from Fridays hunt...its been a crazy weekend....
Rob and I got out Friday morning and got settled into one of our favorite stands that we call the funnel stand. Its on the edge of a small secluded field and there are just scrapes and rubs all around.
Right at first camera light we had a lone done come in 30 yards out in the field and walk right to the scrape and stand around it. We figured that she could have been in estrus cause she was all alone. About the time i get the camera on her were here the most pronouced snort wheeze ever out in the field. I look up and see a good buck (120s) running away. Then, all of a sudden a big shooter 8 pops out and heads striaght toward the hot doe. He gets about 30 yards away and Rob drawns and prepares for the shot right as he turns away and walks under the tree and starts scraping and tearing up the licking branches puttin on a show for us. Finally, after Rob was drawn for about a minute and a half he turns broadside and Rob puts the arrow righ behind his shoulder and burries it into his offside shoulder. Immediate the buck dropped his front legs and plowed his face across the ground for about 30 yards before he piled up.
Rob barely had time to get excited when another shooter shows up in the fields and heads toward the same scrape. He walked around sniffing toward the scrape offerin us as many shots as we wanted. Unfortunately rob and i were both tagged out so we just watched the show. He came in and made a scrape in the same spot and ran around chasing does in circles around our stand. It was one of the coolest experiences i have ever had. He was grunting up a storm.
Finally when things started to settle down we were about to get out of the stand and we had three gobblers come up on us strutting and drumming around in circles. We got some awesome footage of them till they moved on and we went and got the buck that we could see laying dead from the stand.
Talk about an exciting morning!
Here are some pics. Enjoy!
