New hunter here (took first doe last weekend) and I agree with twildasin.....get yourself in a permanent stand and you'll feel better. I climbed a tree with my buddy (he went first) and he was up to 40 feet in no time at all. I got to about 10 and started hallucinating (hard to explain fear of heights to people who don't have it) [&:]. One of my goals is to get a foot higher each time I go.

But this past weekend I was in a permanent stand that had solid wood rails all around and plenty of room for me to spread out all my stuff, and a nice bench seat with a back rest. No fear whatsoever, never even thought about it for a second. Oh, and nailed my first deer ever!!!!
