i myself would choose the 06 , they will almost do the same job , the only real difference is the 7 mag has a better trajectory , and further range in accuracy , the shells also cost more and the rifle has more kick to it , if you live in a wooded area and hunt there then the advantages the 7 mag has don' t really come into play that much.
i myself would choose a .35 whelen , better expantion , capable of taking any north american big game , and for me there' s just something about that .35 calibre that i really like
