My dad hosted the church youth hunt this weekend - only 4 boys with their dads went this year.
All 4 boys got to shoot and 3 killed does. Sounded like a good time. When I bring my buddies, umm,
the kids show us up.

On our best opening day rifle stand, after shooting they sat on the stand
and saw about 15 deer cross the right of way (no big bucks though).
I'm going to try to cut them off close to that location this weekend with a climber - should get in
some good hunting Friday afternoon and the weekend.
Due to very thick CRP, may even try some Shed ground blind tactics.

You really can't hunt those
critters in there very well, which I guess is why they love it. I also need to get in there and look
for some rubs, scrapes, and trails but it's still real dry right now for scouting.
Frustrated because one good area we set up on was showing a few nice bucks (that's relative
of course) on cam, but now there are gone. Maybe setting up the stand (about 20 yards away)
spooked them a little (about a month ago). But hopefully they will settle down. At least I think
it will be a good rut stand.
