Default RE: Honest Hunting Accuracy

I've never actually measured a group in my life. I always put up a target and shoot until I am done shooting. I practice at 25 and 50 yards. Once in a blue moon I will shoot at a 100 yard target. Most of my practice is designed to improve my offhand shooting at close range because I stalk when I am hunting. Offhand I have become a capable shooter at distances up to 50 yards with my ML. 50 yards is a long shot in the field for me, most shots on deer are at 15-40 yards.

I haven't taken many deer compared to many folks on this forum (12), but I have never needed a 2nd shot and am proud of that. I have also never needed to track a deer, so my shoooting must not be too bad. I consider my shooting skills secondary to my stalking skills. If I do the stalking part properly the shooting is academic.

I see a lot of guys shooting at 200 yard targets at the range with the full bench setup. These same folks hunt the same places I do, and they never practice offhand shooting, which is a travesty.
