Bass, There's not much available to buy but the majority of the state is public land. I can't even remember what a "posted" sign looks like. The number of hunters depends on the season and area; some hunts are overcrowded and others you wouldn't have another human within hundreds of miles. The real challenge (and cost) is access; bush planes aren't cheap! Here's a link to the ADF&G website. The Regulations section has got all the area/season/tag info. If there's a specific species you're interested in let me know and I can dial you in or at least point you in the right direction. Just be aware that goats, sheep and brown bears require a non-resident to hire a guide on top of the tag and license fee.
