I just got permission to hunt a 65 acre Christmas tree farm. I don't have a topo map, so I improvised with Paint. I had a quick scouting session this weekend and found alot of trails throughout the trees. These trees are only 3 years old and waist high, several trees have been rubbed hence the reason i'm getting to hunt this property. To my knowledge there have never been any hunting done within this 65 acre lot. I'm sure that the surrounding areas have and will be hunted come gun season. There is a lil trickle of woods (40 yards wide) down the middle of the lot and I jumped a bedded doe in there on Saturday. This area is fenced in with hardwoods surrounding two edges. The woods surrounding the lot is not the land owners property, BUT he said that there would be no problem hopping the fence and placing a stand or 2 on the field edge. What is the best practice for hunting an area like this. I have no clue what these deer are eating or when they are making there way through the area. The land owners swears that he sees deer everday just walking around the trees. Any advice or first hand accounts with hunting this kind of set up would be great.
