My girlfriends dad invited me to hunt this season on a peice of land that he leases every year, ive never seen anything like it. Around here your lucky to see a deer a season, they are there but seeing them doesnt happen to often, they seem to travel mostly at night, anyway... i went out with him last week to check for some stand spots and to see how the deer were doing this year, that day in total i seen 24 deer, including some nice little 6 points, i went back a few days later to set up my stand, the next day we finally got out to hunt.. when we got there we went to check on a carrot pile to see if the deer have started feeding from it, while we were standing around the bait pile talking we looked behind us and here was a nice little 6 point buck walking by, i figured he would be back to the bait after a while so i headed back and got my bow. I desided not to hunt my stand and to go watch the carrot pile hoping he would come back.. sure enough about a half an hour later i heard him walking threw the woods towards the carrot pile, i was sitting in a little furn patch about 15 yards away, he walked in real slow, i took my time and waited for him to get about 2 feet from the carrots and when he put his head down i drew my bow back slowly.... and BAMM i was busted, he heard my arrow sliding on my arrow rest and looked strait at me, i sat there and didnt move for probly a min or so then he took right off ... i might not have got him but it was awesome finally being able to draw back on a deer with my bow (havent got anything with it yet).
now i have a question i was hopeing someone would be able to anwser for me, i dont have enough extra cash to buy a new arrow rest, driving a hour and a half to the camp, plus food/drinks really puts a dent in my funds, so i was wondering if maybe putting some tape or something on the prongs on my arrow rest would mess up my accuracy any? i was thinking some hockey tape would quiet it up quite a bit... any suggestions? oh and even tho the rut isnt on yet will scents like tinks 69 work right now? ive never really tryed usings scents or anything, always been bait but i figured sence theres so many deer in this area i would try some new stuff out this weekend!
