maybe its just the way i read it. but i didn't see anywhere where it said he aimed for the spine on purpose. my guess is he is proly bout 25-30 feet high and didn't compensate for the angle and distance. and ended up shooting high.
Now the second shot i'm not sure i agree with. especially calling it a "desperation shot".
