If it has the accutrigger, then yes. I recently bought a Savage Cub, which is a shortened single shot version of the MKII and am very impressed by it, though the action is a little tight.
My top choices would be a CZ or a Savage- in that order. If I had more $$s to spend, I'd buy a remington bolt or a Browning T-bolt.
i want an accurate hunting rifle, not a plainking rifle, a hunting rifle, preferably under $300 so that eliminates big brands.
Also look for used remington 581s- they sell for around $150-200 if you can find one. I used one of these for NRA rimfire silhouette- its a very accurate rifle and is lightweight as well. You might be able to find a used Rem 541 (a nicer rifle than the 581)for around $300, but those usually sell for closer to $600.
