RE: who hunts deer on field edges?
I love hunting field edges......if you put up a stand be sure to set it back a little so it doesn't stick out in the field where the deer will see your movement,I put my stand just a few feet back but I have a row of tree's in front of my stand with lots of great cover from the limbs and leaves.I can see through the front cover and to my right and left there are some great shooting lanes with plenty of lower limbs and foliage to hide me.I have shot several deer out of my stand and my Daughter shot her first Doe from the very same stand during the Youth Hunt last year in October!
I was going to put my stand up in the very front row of tree's overlooking the field but a friend of mine from work found a better tree that sat back a little and thanks to his suggestion it has turned out to be one of the best hunting spots on our farm! You can use some of those Ameristep camo strips that look like leaves to hide the ladder stand legs and camo material to wrap around the top part of the stand where you sit or if you use a Climbing Stand you don't have to worry about camo-ing thelegslike you would a ladder stand.
