Well folks here goes mine. My person Is my Grandfather! I couldn't even begin to guess when he started hunting. He instilled in me all the morals and characteristics that I still hold in HIGH regard today. Not only in the woods, but in life as well. In the woods he taught me to respect the animal as well as the sport. He always said the best was to respect the animal is to make sure you can make a clean and efficient shot. He would sit me down with a trusty .22 and a box of shells and tell me not to get up tillI could first hit the quarter and then the head of a sixteen penny nail. To this day I have never had to shoot a deer twice to kill it. One of the greatest moments in my life is when I took my 120" 11 pointer on our small tract of land. The look on his face and love and sense of accomplishment is something that will still bringa tear to my eye to this day.

In life he taught me to make sure that before anything you take care of your family first. Even after raising 4 children of his own, he takes me on to raise as well. (My parents gave me up at 5 months old) He was basically retired from 32 years at an auto plant that he hated everyday, but it put food on the table, and then he takes on a 5 month old child to raise when he is supposed to be relaxing and enjoying life. I can only imagine what my life would have been like had he not made that decision, without the joy of spending time in the outdoors with him and learning his infinte wisdom.

Its now been over 8 years since he passed away. Everytime I step into the woods, I do it knowing he is watching over me. I know he is proud of me with every harvestI make and every stepI take to make sure I keep his traditions going telling my daughter what an awesome Great Grandfather she had!
