Sounds like my cabin.
We use an old Kohler Generator to light the place. It's only rated at 1000 watts. It's a little small to run something like a circular saw. We have a 5000 watt for that. But we leave the 1000 watt generator there. If someone decides to steel it, we won't be out all that much $$$.
We have a floor propane furnace a long with a wood burner for heat.
We usually bring our own water. We do have a shower that we run with a Zodi water heater.
We use one solor panel only to keep a car battery charged. It comes in handy to run the zodi along with the electric starter on the generator.
We kind of shy away from fully running solor pannels or a wind mill. They are both pretty expensive and leaving them outside in the open kind keeps me uneasy in fear of theft.
