I would use one while hunting for this reason, if no other. Fortunately, on my bow, it completely eliminates string buzz which was about the only noise it had.
I also mounted a rubber cable dampener on the STS arm so the cable hits the dampener on return. I'm a guy who wants my bow ultra quiet, so I also have cat whiskers on the upper half of the string and on the cables. My bow makes no more noise than an extremely quiet longbow shooting a very heavy arrow.
