I have been using the Clean Shot pellets that I bought years ago to foul the barrel when needed. I just drop one pellet in and seat a sabot stuffed with patches over it and pop a cap. Seems to work for me and it helps justify the expense of the old pellets that did not perform well in any load I tried. So far I've not had any issues with doing things that way.
