"Green Swamp definitely has a terrible hunter day/kill ratio."
Mike
Got that right...but there are a handful that get 2 or 3 every year. In he
Green Swamp you just have to lessen the odds.
The darn place is too HUGE..It's very hard to pattern those deer. What I look for are funnels ...to where you know they haveto come through . I've got a couple of such places ..but now that the swamp is wet again both places can be scary....snakes and gators...
Let me tell ya a quick story. 3 years ago I was goingto my stand in Powder. On my way there I was walking the Sumter fireline. There was a big mud puddle across the fireline. It was during archery. The puddle was about 10 inches deep where I would across. I would hear a splashing sound each time I crossed through..I'm thinking big turtles scooting off a log. One morning I overslept and as I was on my way to the puddle I saw what was living it. I stopped dead and my tracks and honestly thanked the Lord for preserving my life..Honestly a gator about 10 foot long was stretched avross the entire fireline. So ....becareful ..even in 10 inches of water. needless to say ; I found an alternative routeto my stand.
Here's a pic ofmaybe a 9 footer I took not far from my house.
