A little help with terrain and where to set up.
Hello,
I am new to hunting, as well as the forum. I went for the first time...actually today haha. It was very exciting, even though I didnt get to shoot anything. Me and my buddy live in Virginia, and hunt on his farmland which consists of wide open fields that have patches of woods scattered around the hundred or so acres. His technique is to headout around 5-5:30 a.m andsit and wait at the base of a tree near the tree line. After the sun has come up, we started walking around the edge of the forrest. We heard lots of deer in the early hours of the morning, but didnt hear/see any for the rest of the day.It was a very hot/humid day and he said that deer didnt like to move on hot days, so it would be difficult to hunt them.
At any rate , I was wondering how that would differ from hunting on my property. I haveabout 20acres and it is mainly woods, except for at one end there is a field, and one end there is a pond. I can see indentations in the grass where deer were laying down in the field, and I assume the deer would go to the pond to drink. There are only several decently sized trees surrounding the field. The pond islower than the surrounding area, although it is surrounded by forrest. If you have any suggestionsof how I should go about hunting my property I would greatly appreciate it.
A little info about me:
*I am currently Bow hunting
*At the moment, my range is accurate up to about 30 yards. I can still keepa pretty tight group at 30.
Thank you so much,I know its probably hard to give tips just from a description, but anything would be so helpful to me.
Thanks again!
