Garmin makes good GPS's. If you go with Garmin get a newer one that has a CX after the name. They have a better antena then the older Garmins. The Garmin 60 CSX works well also. Magellan explorist series work very well in heavy canopy areas. For an inexpensive in and out GPS the Magellen explorist 100 works very well. I used it last fall and this spring with out complaint.
