I own alot of tikka rifles. You can't beat their smooth action and nice trigger. Personally if you are looking at staying in the short action market you can't beat the 308 WIN ... For a little extra horse power you might want to try the 300 WSM. But the 308 has more then enough knock down power to handle moose and elk at reasonable distances.

Just got to know your limitations and work with them.
