RE: .22wmr, or 17hmr?
Ahhhhh.............The same question that has been asked on here 400 times.
Both have their pros and cons. Some people like the .17 because it is faster and shoots flatter. Some like the .22 cause it is a bigger bullet and has more knock down power.If your shooting rabbits, squirrels, birds, ect.; then these calibersare right for you.
But, if you want to shoot bigger predators (ex. coyotes) then get a center fire rifle. .22 hornet is as small as I would go.
I have killed a coyote with a .17 before so I am not saying it won't get the job done.I am just saying that a center fire would be much more effective.
