RE: HOYT BOW
Why does it have to compare to a Mathews? Many might say it's better, many might say it's not, who cares.
The MagnaTec was a major seller for Hoyt. The magnesium riser was much cheaper than the aluminum risers of the top of the line Hoyts of those years. The MagnaTec came with several limb configurations, the top being the XT2000 limbs, the ZR200 were less expensive. New they were if I remember correctly around $350.
The bow was/is slightly heavier than the aluminum riser Hoyts but again, it sold volumes because it was a great bow at the right price for most hunters.
Now, bare bow it wouldn't be worth more than $150 but honestly $100 would be more realistic. Last year I sold my VorTec to a friend for $150 and the Magnetic was a much less expensive bow.
