In addressing the "noisy slide". Everyone has been mistaken regarding this issue.
It is not the working of the slide that is considered noisy - it is the fitting of the slide. Let's say you have the gun over your lap and a deer suddenly materializes nearby (funny how tey can do this - isn't it?). You pick the gun up to shoulder it and when your hand hits the slide for support - you'll hear it. Will the deer hear it too and spook him?
