RE: Does anybody hunt in Oak Bottoms?
We have a number of Oak Flats on our property and they are ussually next to either thick bedding areas or creek bottoms. Either way the deer WILL come in to them to eat the acorns while they last at some time of the day. Look for trails from bedding or crossings on the creek. They will use the same crossing over and over if you don't alert them to danger. If the white oak is present then yeh they will go their first. I always sneak in wind in face only (Not by bedding) and use my turkey seat against a nice fork at the base of one of the bigger trees. Use a leaf 3d suit and they will walk right up to you while feeding. Do not ruin the area if the wind is wrong! Good Luck!
