Shawn and I headed out this evening around 4:30, even though the Chiefs were playing. We got to the tree, got all the equipment set up but we werent too excited about the night. It was humid, we were sweating and we were hunting in the middle of the woods so visibility wasnt great.

We sat for about an hour and a half before were saw our first deer - a little one sided guys that i got a lot of pictures of this summer. He came in at 33 yards. I drew and settled my pin on him for a confidece builder, then let him continue on. About another hour and nothing...

Then, i turn and look over my shoulder (straight down wind) and see a shooter standing in my lane about 30 yards away. I tell Shawn to get the camera rolling and wait for him to step into my next lane. Just as he does a go to stop him and he turns and quarters to. I have to let down as he circles around in front of me and starts to cross a creek in front of me. He is slightly quarterd away at 22 yards as I released. I went in right behind the shoulder and nailed his offside shoulder, buring the arrow almost to the fletching. He crashed through the woods smacking into trees and bushes and crashed about 60 yards away.

We backed out, came to the house got the camera lights and met up with jeff to do the recovery. Now im pooped sitting here gettin ready to go to bed but i figured i would throw this up real quick. It was one sweet hunt!

I guess the first Sunday evening of the season is my lucky day. Last year i took my first buck on the 17th of September, the first Sunday of the season.
